1.White light 400nm-700nm
Suitable for finding traces that are easier to find. Including footprints, fibers, and fingerprints on glass or smooth surfaces, some traces of dust can also be seen in this way. Can be used as a preliminary search on site.
2.Blue light 465nm-485nm
It is an ideal light source for finding evidence of fluorescent traces. Look for semen, body fluid remnants, saliva, contaminated fingerprints, fibers, hair, paint, flame boosters, blood stains, and some illegal drugs.
Looking for semen: When the room is dark, the semen on the clothes is illuminated by blue light. Put on an orange filter to observe. The semen can appear bright colors.
Look for fibers: Some fibers under 450nm blue light can be observed with an orange filter to find strong fluorescence, some fibers can appear green, some are red, and some are white. Because the fibers are very small, they also emit very little fluorescence, so they should be quite close to the fibers when observing, especially during the day.
Finding fingerprints: Unfinished fingerprints on shiny surfaces can be easily spotted at an angle to the surface. Fat-rich fingerprints can be observed using different colors of light that contrast with the background surface (for example, fingerprints on red surfaces are illuminated with blue light). Fingerprints with fluorescent powder are illuminated with blue light and worn with an orange filter for observation. For example, fingerprints that are smoked with super glue and stained with Basic Yellow 40 or Rhodamine 6G can be observed with blue or blue-green light.
Finding Footprints: Footprints on tiles or plastic floor tiles, painted wooden surfaces, or shiny cement surfaces can be easily found, but not on rough, perforated surfaces or textiles such as carpets Search with white light and changing the angle of light exposure.
3.Purple light 400nm-405nm
Although blood has a wide absorption spectrum, from ultraviolet, visible to infrared, blood has the largest absorption spectrum around 415nm. It is not as bright as fibers, paint, ink and other substances, so the dark blood stains contrast with the bright background. . Usually, we rely on the absorption characteristics of blood stains to separate it from the background. For example, extraction of blood stains on a red background is very difficult. With 450 nm blue light, the blood stains appear dark (black) and the background is brighter than the blood stains. Theoretically, using purple light will produce good results. If it is old blood stains, it will become shiny and hard. It is beneficial to illuminate blood stains on non-glossy surfaces such as dark wood with oblique light. In this case, the blood stains will glow and contrast with the background.
4.Green light 530nm-555nm
The fingerprints treated with super glue are irradiated with blue-green light and emit radiant fluorescence near 565nm. For example, the potential fingerprints processed by rhodamine 6G and ninhydrin can strongly absorb blue-green light, making the fluorescent fingerprints emitted form a strong contrast with the background.
5, orange green light 555nm-570nm
For latent fingerprints on DFO-treated paper. When green light is used to illuminate the potential fingerprints processed by DFO, the radiant fluorescence is the brightest at a wavelength of around 590nm. It is recommended to observe with a red filter, or use an orange filter and rotate the angle of the filter to obtain better visual effects. Since the DFO display effect is 2.5 to 3 times that of ninhydrin, and it does not damage the test material, it can be used before ninhydrin. At present, it has become the preferred method for potential fingerprints on paper.
6.Red light 590nm-620nm
Ninhydrin-treated fingerprints appear purple under white light. Use orange-red light to enhance red ninhydrin on background surfaces of other colors (such as green or blue) to make it appear brighter on dark surfaces.
